Horse of the Year Show, Birmingham

The Permavoid Equaflow sustainable water management system was chosen for the temporary outdoor arena for the Horse of the Year Show, which took place at the Birmingham NEC 6-10th October 2010.

SUDS Designers, EPG, were appointed by Andrews Bowen Ltd to design a system that could be installed over the existing car park to collect, store and re-use rainwater, including protecting the arena from flooding during a 100 year storm event. EPG opted to utilize a continuous modular plastic void forming Equaflow blanket to facilitate the controlled drainage of the overlying equine surfacing and the attenuation of surface water. The design incorporated proprietary components that enabled the stored water to migrate from the Equaflow layer into the overlying surfacing to maintain the optimum surface condition.
