For professional equestrian riding surfaces, moisture content of the used soil is of the upmost importance. Soil being either too wet after rain leads to postponed events and soil too dry will making riding impossible or unsafe for horse and rider. Ideally, during rain the soil should drain quickly back to the desired moisture content, and in sunny conditions the soil moisture should not drop. This is exactly what the Permavoid subbase underneath the riding surface provides: fast drainage of the soil after rain, to enable the organization to resume the events sooner. And during dry periods, the capillary system will replenish soil moisture from underneath the arena to maintain the desired soil moisture content, without using disturbing surface irrigation techniques. This sub-surface irrigation system is based on natural capillary maintenance of soil moisture content, and thus does not require (failure prone) or energy consuming pumps, lines, valves or control systems.

On top of that, the system is lightweight, easy and modular in construction and easy to deconstruct after the event. The Equaflow system is therefore perfect for temporary pitches; it can be constructed and deconstructed without causing any damage on existing surfaces.
